Sonam Kapoor Opens Up On Pay Disparity In Bollywood: ‘The Pay Gap Is Ridiculous, I Can Stand Up To It, But Then I Don’t Get Those Roles’

The beautiful Sonam Kapoor is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Blind, which is backed by Sujoy Ghosh. Over the past few months, she had been shooting for the movie in Scotland and had been sharing glimpses of it on social media. In a recent interview, the Neerja star divulged the details about her film and revealed that during the pandemic, she was filming from early in the morning till late in the night. Not just this, Sonam also talked about the pay gap in the industry.
Speaking to Mid-Day, the Khoobsurat actress said, “The pay gap is ridiculous. I can stand up to it, but then I don’t get those roles, and I’m okay with that. I can afford to do that. I realised over the past two or three years that I have no right to judge anybody. I’m privileged, so making difficult choices isn’t really f**king difficult.”
Further, talking about her film Blind, Sonam Kapoor recalled wearing white lenses during the shoot that blocked her vision and said it was intense. The masakali girl was quoted as saying, “We were starting at 3 pm and shooting until 4 am. You’d wake up and have one hour of daylight.”
On a related note, Sonam will be seen playing the role of a blind police officer who begins investigating a serial killer's case. The film also features Purab Kohli, Vinay Pathak and Lillete Dubey in supporting roles.
Shome Makhija’s directorial, which is a remake of the 2011 Korean film of the same name, centres around a blind police officer in a search of a serial killer.
